Same issue. It also slows down when i zoom-out view. Only difference is that reducing particles count to minimum lets experience smaller lag. Build 33.2b and previous

Update: Problem reoccurs occasionally - once during game launch, once during game save. Generally now it only happens on loading screen

Update: after restarting computer game seems to run normally. So this is rather not a save issue.

Agreed! This would enable players to make more strategic mazes than "give them all you've got my towers!". An option to target nearest/furthest/strongest/weakest/fastest/slowest/"of kind", where "of kind" means what Manboobies mentioned, would also be nice.
