Hrm, looks like you don't have enough system ram to run the game. Try closing down as many applications as you can (or just reboot!) and try again. You may just have something hogging your resources right now. :)

How much system ram do you have?

Hrm, you certainly shouldn't be having any trouble with 8 gigs of ram and a decent i7. I have a test machine that has the same CPU and only 4 gigs of ram, and it can load the game just fine.

It's possible something is wrong with your machine, or something weird is going on with Steam and it's trying to run the 32 bit version of the game.

Try opening your RPC folder and running RetroPixelCastles64.exe directly and see what happens. If that doesn't work, try RetroPixelCastles32.exe and the RetroPixelCastles.bat file.

If *that* all doesn't work, we'll have to do some more digging, something is probably misconfigured on your system, or you have an application running in the background consuming all your resources. Try checking your task manager for from high-load applications. :)

the 64 gets the same distance and 32 just poops up is black and crashes again i looked in task manager for any high running ones and the highest was calledsystem and compressed memory at 260mbs ive run games like ark survival evolved which i feel would be harder for this computer to run then RPC so i launched it to see what my cpu memory and disk would do my cpu goes to about 38% memory around 45% and disk around 10% then it just all stops

That's very strange, there's really no reason for you to be so low on memory Java can't allocate enough. Do you have any special third party software that interacts with Java in any way? Perhaps something is interfering with the JVM, not allowing it to allocate the ram it's requesting? Even on my 4gb machine, RPC still manages to allocate about 1.5 gigs on startup.

Honestly I'm unsure. The various launchers RPC comes with all account for most of the argument flags you need in Java to get past a problem like this. But it's very strange Java can't seem to allocate enough ram when you should have plenty. Are you absolutely sure you have 8 gigs of ram, any chance one of your ram sticks are faulty?

What does your total memory say under the Performance tab in your task manager, and what's your total ram usage when just sitting idle at your desktop?
