This game bears major similarities to another game I'd played previously and wondered if anyone else thought this too, I play a lot of other pixel based games two so my mind might have mixed it all into one big mountain dew fueled soup

Village Building, Survival...

Brings to mind a lot of games, but for some reason Retro-Pixel Castles reminds me of Dwarf Fortress more then anything else. Strange too, as the games have some of same features, but RPC and DF are really different games... so I don't know why that springs to mind first.

Maybe its the "Losing is Fun" tag I assocate with both games, as those two are the only Survival games where I really feal like it is fun to lose. It's also very possible that my Dwarves are just as stupid as my Villagers; and that is what triggered the connection.

Who knows?
