oh yeah, definitely already planned. I have an entire (massive) overhaul of the particle engine planned.

Just a few of the things you'll see when it's done:
- Water/Lava "bubbles"
- Dirt trails when mobs run
- "confetti" like magic bursts when a mob levels up
- Smoke
- Fire!
- particle dust when workers are working/harvesting
- Blood colors for every mob
- Slime trails for slimes.

The particle system is going to be a huge addition to the polish of the game, probably one of my personally most anticipated features.

Yeah, they have the same level up mechanics the villagers do. Although they would level up slower in general because their AI won't be doing as much XP-gaining tasks.

But, as the days progress higher level mobs will start spawning as well. right now everything just spawns at level 1 by default. Eventually how long you've been playing will start to have an effect.

My end goal idea is to give all the monsters a bottom and top level, so say, slimes can spawn between level 1 and 5.. leaning more closer to 5 every few days until basically all of them spawn as level 5s. Where as, maybe a "Orc Chief" or some such might be level 15-20. The gaps won't be that wide, but it'll be there. The major difficulty increase won't be from the mob level ranges, more so from the game slowly unlocking harder and harder mobs.
